On tour: My own library

As part of the Book Places and Spaces page I'm including my own private little library. No, I don't live in a huge house or anything, however, I do have a small bedroom in my house that has a large cut out to my formal living room. When we moved in it already had some floor to ceiling bookshelves (below) and so of course as any good bibliophile would do, I declared it the library. My book collection has actually outgrown the little room and it is in progress of  being reorganized and new bookshelves are being added. It looks pretty good in the meantime though. I love book spaces they're just so inviting!

Looking for: Guest Bloggers for Book Reviews!

I am extending the offer to anyone who finds this post to be a guest blogger here on LitPool! What you would do is a book review in the LitPool style. The post would also include your name, a short 2-3 sentence bio of who you are, and links to your blog, website, and/or Twitter/Facebook.

If you are interested please take a look at my LitPool Cypher page and a few book review posts. I suggest:

 Wings
 Bones of Faerie
 Dead Until Dark

If you have any questions or are ready to do it, email me!

10th Follower Celebration

Woo-hoo! As of today I have 10 followers here on LitPool. I want to send out a big thank you to all of you! I really appreciate it. To celebrate I would love to give all my followers something, but I'm not sure what? So I want to ask all of you - what would you like? It can't be that I follow you too - it's too late, I'm already stalking each of you... I mean um, following you! Following you, yeah! Maybe you would like to do a guest blog book review? That's something I could offer to everyone. Since many of you have been at this longer than I, I would love to hear your suggestions of what you've seen people do in the past that you really liked, or just any ideas you may have!

Feel free to email me.

Check out one of my past book reviews to see the format.

Pottermore.com and Pug's Harry Potter Reading Challenge 2011

Apparently I'm not the only one who has been yearning for a Harry Potter fix. JK Rowling has just announced a new Harry Potter project in typical creative fashion. She scattered 'coordinates' all over Fansites that when entered into the website Secretstreetview.com revealed the scrambled letters of the new project, Pottermore. If you would like to learn more head over to Mugglenet.

In the meantime while we are waiting for our Official Harry Potter fix at Pottermore, why not play along here at LitPool the Pug's Harry Potter Reading Challenge 2011? You still have time to win the first Prize Pack!

Top 5 Problems With Ebooks & Ereaders

I've learned a great deal about ebooks and ereaders lately and I've compiled the top 5 problems with them. Though written by me (Amber) I can assure you that friends and authors are massive contributors to these thoughts.

Number 5:
They don't take up massive amounts of space.
That's right, if you've always dreamed of having a great library, you're not going to achieve it with ebooks.

Number 4:
On a related note:
You can't build towers or stairs with them.
If you're a true bibliophile you know exactly what I'm talking about. There's nothing like a miniature city made out of the imagination carrying devices.

Number 3:
They don't smell the same.
Nothing smells quite as good as bindings, old glue, and musty pages. No matter how much you sniff that little electronic device you're not going to get that old world smell.

Number 2:
If you place them in a ziploc bag before getting in the bathtub, when you later drop them in the bathtub, they don't get wrinkly.
I owe this one wholly to a family member, Jessica. When she pointed it out, I literally did a palm to the forehead.

And now, the real problem...
  Number 1:
Author's can't sign them (or draw dragons in them.)
Yep, that's it.

I want to hear from you. What have you found is a "problem" with ebooks and ereaders?
